Ah Logos, those wonderful graphic design elements that either raise your business to new heights or leave it in obscurity.
Its always an interesting adventure when we get a new client in the door excited to brand or re-brand their business. Usually with a sleek and modern new look. Often there is a lot of confusion here on what makes a good logo and hopefully I can give you a few tips to make that first step a little less of a mountain.
1. Look around - I don't mean the scenery though I do fancy our lovely Sault view myself, the competition can be a good indicator of what is working and what isn't. What logos really speak to you and catch your eye or alternatively what make you cringe or confuse you. Think on the reasons why for awhile to give a sense of what you are looking for.
2. Be open - Sometimes we go in thinking we have the idea ready to roll out just need an artist to give it some shine. This can really be detrimental to the process and leave a door closed that may have lead to something beyond your original concept. Don't get me wrong , having a good base does wonders to speed up the process but you don't want to be putting up obstacles that don't need to be there.
3. keep the approval group small - I can't stress this enough, too many cooks in the kitchen is a real problem with design work. It usually spirals into a big mess of opinions in most cases. Pick a few good people that have a sense of your business and are really invested in the success of it. 3 - 5 max.
4. Lastly pick a reasonable time line - The process can be long and drawn out at times but you want to set a deadline that works for everyone so that there is a clear direction. Otherwise it may end up costing you far more then you budgeted for and no one wants that.
Hopefully those tips help smooth things along when you go to get your logo done and it just so happens we do logo (did a forget to mention that part?). Feel free to head on over to the main page and see what we can do for you !
